Another lovely photo from Liz showing Snowflakes - the slightly taller flowers with green dots and Snowdrops. Snowflakes often have more than one flower per stem, while the smaller Snowdrops only have a single flower.

Snowdrops are one of the first bulbs to flower at the end of winter - these ones are flowering now in Scotland. The name Galanthus means "milk flower".

Heather is one of the National Flowers of Scotland and there are about 5 million acres Purple Heather across Scotland moors. Heather is usually lilac to purple, but there are some varieties in other colours including white, gold, copper and red.  (See Scottish at Heart)

Wax Plant (Hoya Camosa) by Janet

Wax plants (or Honey plant) are popular house plants. They produce clusters (umbrels) of star shaped, 5 petaled pink and white, sweetly perfumed flowers during summer. The leaves are shiny green and fleshy. The flowers should not be picked though, as the flowers form on the same stems each year.
